The School of Nursing of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa was represented at the third General Assembly of the European project In-Touch, held in Turin, Italy, by researchers Carolina Monteiro and Carla Pais-Vieira.
The In-Touch project focuses on the implementation of a person-centred palliative care intervention designed to improve comfort, quality of life, and social engagement among people with advanced dementia living in nursing homes.
The initiative includes a multicentre randomized clinical trial conducted in residential care facilities for older adults across seven European countries, with the aim of assessing the impact of the In-Touch intervention on care delivery in real-world settings.
Over the coming months, the intervention will be implemented in participating institutions, and within two years the first data regarding its clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness are expected to become available.
Participation in this European consortium reinforces the commitment of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa to international research and to the development of innovative healthcare solutions.
The project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme.
