Paulo Jorge Pereira Alves, a faculty member at the School of Nursing (Porto) and at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, has had his habilitation process unanimously approved following the Habilitation Examinations on Scientific and Pedagogical Perspectives on Tissue Healing and Viability in Nursing – The Care Written on the Skin, held on April 17 at the Porto campus of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
The jury was composed of Professors Jorge Manuel da Silva Junqueira Polónia (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto), Alexandre Lemos de Castro Caldas (Faculty of Medicine of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa), Maria Emília Carreira Saraiva Monteiro (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Miguel Castelo-Branco Craveiro Sousa (University of Beira Interior), António Carlos Megre Eugénio Sarmento (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto), and Paulo Sérgio de Matos Figueira da Costa (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon).
The jury highlighted the high scientific standard of the examinations, emphasizing their contribution to the advancement of nursing and the progress that has been achieved in this field.
The habilitation process aims to assess the candidate’s scientific and pedagogical competence, as well as their capacity for academic leadership, and is considered one of the highest academic qualifications in a university career.
The examinations took place at the Carvalho Guerra Auditorium and were attended by a large number of members of the academic community, reflecting the recognition of his professional trajectory.
