Thursday, April 11, 2024 - 10:54

PhD students, professionals and researchers from all over the world were gathered at Universidade Católica Portuguesa to share the results of research projects in the field of Nursing, thus contributing to the development of nursing knowledge and for the translation of knowledge. This edition of the International Seminar on Nursing Research was attended by Christopher Sean Lee (Connell School of Norsing - Boston), Philip Moons (chief editor of the European Journal of Cardiovascular Noursing) and Lisette Schoonhoven (University Medical Center Utrecht).

For Paulo Alves, director of the School of Nursing (Porto) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, this event “is a transformative milestone, shaping the future of nursing with vision and excellence.”

Divided into several moments, the event included three conferences on different topics that interconnected: “The value of research on Nursing Global Development: heritage and Future”, by Christopher Sean Lee (William F. Connell School of Nursing; Boston College; Professor and Dean for Research); “Editors' expectations of authors: challenges and constraints”, by Philip Moons (KU Leuven; European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursin Editor in Chief); and “The Power of Evidence: Shaping the Future of Norsing Practice”, by Lisette Schoonhoven (University Medical Center Utrecht; Chair of Nursing Science and programme lead of the Master of Nursing Science). For two days, the participants had the opportunity to attend the presentation of various communications, conferences and, moreover, see and evaluate the more than 30 posters exhibited, enriching their knowledge and contributing to the advancement of nursing at a global level.

We would like to highlight the award-winning papers and posters:

  • Best Poster - C2438 | Strategies to promote parents' mastery of the transition process as caregivers of children with enterostomies: a scoping review
Prize: 2 ECTS of FCSE training

The International Nursing Research Seminars of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa have been held since 2005 and are open to the participation of nursing students and nurses in general, who wish to share their research projects, methodologies and results. “During these almost 20 years of seminars, we have sought to enable master’s and doctoral students to find moments of discussion, opportunities for the development of their research competences and for development of nursing knowledge”, concludes Paulo Alves.
