The PhD Programme in Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is organising, on 20 February, the MasterClass entitled “Quality in Healthcare: from evidence to practice in line with the WHO European agenda.” The MasterClass is part of the curricular unit Management of Healthcare Units and Services.
The event will take place online, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and will feature João Breda, an internationally recognised expert in public health, quality of care, and disease prevention policies. João Breda is Head of the Athens Quality of Care Office and Special Adviser to the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Europe. He previously led the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, supporting 53 Member States in implementing policies to improve quality of care and reduce premature mortality. With extensive experience in nutrition, physical activity, obesity, and health governance, he has held senior roles across several European countries and collaborated with multiple academic institutions and international organisations.
The session will be moderated by João Neves-Amado, lecturer and researcher at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in the field of healthcare management and quality, ensuring a strong link between the WHO’s international perspective and the Portuguese healthcare context.
